Wiscon, Day....4?
May. 26th, 2008 02:45 amSo, clearly, it's 2:45am and I should be in bed. But I just wanted to blog anyway.
Parts of yesterday disappointed me in ways that I didn't expect to be disappointed. At the very end of the night, I found my footing again, and felt much better. Additionally, today was really awesome, so I felt better. I remember feeling really insecure on Saturday at last Wiscon, too. I should figure out what happens.
I have a mixed CD from
cabell for the character Faith, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I bought an amazing book from the dealers' room called Watching Hannah: Sexuality, Horror and Bodily De-formation in Victorian England because OMG is that the perfect book for me, or what?!
yhlee has notes on L. Timmel Duchamp's Guest of Honor Speech, and also the Not Just Japan: Asian Science Fiction and Fantasy panel. I didn't attend that panel, and I don't have anything else to say about the GoH speeches, except that I expected to be much more engaged with McHugh's speech, as I have actually read (and loved) some of her work. But I felt like her speech was more weird: all she did was explain viral marketing, and....well, no, that was pretty much it. It was interesting, and I still think she was totally awesome, but I'm not entirely sure what was going on there.
Meals
Yesterday for lunch, I ate with my boyfriend Antoine.
For dinner, I ate with
littlebutfierce,
takumashii,
heresluck,
oyceter, and
coffeeandink.
This afternoon, I had a lovely lunch at Hawk's with
general_jinjur (sometimes one-on-one meals are really the best, I think!).
And for dinner, I ate with
were_duck,
mindy, Heather, and Patrick Rothfuss.

I really did mean it when I said that I don't say very much around people I don't know, but greatly admire/respect. Sometimes (as some of you have discovered, sometimes I don't STFU either). But as a personality side-note, the "me" who was herding my friends down the party hallway in the hotel yelling, "There's a keg over here, come drink some beer, damn it!" was much more typical of me than the "me" who's kind of silent and watching the conversations of others transpire.
