Next week starts Three Weeks for Dreamwidth.

For those who don't know about it, it basically means, "Post a lot, contribute to the comms you're part of, and make new friends, celebrate dreamwidth, yay."

SO.

If there are things you want me to write about, leave a comment and tell me what you want to hear.
I'm not guaranteeing that I'll write everything (if I don't have the spoons), but even if I don't get to it next week, maybe I will in TEH FUTURES.

& *cough* note it means you only post content to DW for 3 weeks from the date of posting. Obviously you can post a link to it from LJ, but yeah, content should stay on DW.

Yeah, I don't like the rule, so I guess I'm doing my own modification of it. I still want to participate in comms and do comm-recs, which will be DW-exclusive, but I don't want to go radio-silent on my LJ friends, even if I'm posting more specifically for the DW excitement. I think it would just further some of their dislike of the clique-y-ness/evangelical nature of DW - I know it's why it took me a while to come over.
THUS...I guess I won't join the official "Three Weeks" comm or whatever. HURR, HURR.

I guess I don't see what's so unreasonable about trying to drum up content on a site that is constantly denigrated for not being as active as LJ (after only a year), & to give people an incentive to come visit? It's not like people on LJ are forbidden from reading 3W4DW posts. & tbh, I think a lot of the people on LJ who dislike DW are never going to like it, no matter how people try to pander to them *shrugs*.

There's no need to go radio silent; I & lots of other people posted periodic link drops on LJ.

Right, but then I have to go out of my way to make things not cross-post to LJ. IDK. My friends don't denigrate DW, and I don't feel like communicating with them = pandering?
I just want to post more because everyone else is excited, ;_;

A point of clarification: I don't believe the rule stipulates that ALL of your posts must remain DWth-only during "3 weeks." So you could certainly make as many LJ-crosposted posts as you want, and just reserve a few particular posts for DWth-only.

Huh. Whatever I was reading sounded more intense, then, but it was pretty hard to follow. This is why I don't usually do comms with lots of rules or fic challenges. OMGJUSTPOST = my thoughts.

I might be wrong -- i don't actually participate in "3 weeks" myself because i don't like making public posts over here (that's what my blog is for). If i am wrong, i merely await the appearance of

littlebutfierce to correct me. ;)

I'm assuming her absence simply means i am correct! Yup, totally stickin' with that.

This is correct! Participating in 3W4DW doesn't mean all one's posts must participate!

laceblade, that was more of a general comment on diehard LJ users who generally seem v. threatened by any suggestion that people might leave LJ or that things might be going on elsewhere.

Though yeah, for posts one wants to submit as part of the fest, I guess I still don't see the point of wanting them to be part of a fest celebrating content on DW & then posting them elsewhere simultaneously. I mean, they could still be posted w/o being part of the fest! Just... I dunno about trying to have it both ways w/posts one might want to be as part of Three Weeks, ha.

I think we should probably finally have our big bloggy argument over the word "bitch" :-p

OMG, I bet there are other people on this list who want to take me to task on that, too.

I shy away from that a little bit, mostly because I don't really have an argument. I get why other people don't use the word, but I just use it anyway and don't plan to change. I don't have much to say about it. ONE MIGHT SAY I'M KIND OF A BITCH, :O

I would. I'd say what kind of a bitch thinks it's ok to be a bitch herself but doesn't think other bitches can say, hey, bitch, don't wanna hear it.
