All I want for Christmas is a more manageable FL

Last night I learned an important skill in Vagrant Story. Ashley can jump higher when his sword and shield are unequipped. Of course, this makes sense in theory, but I am not used to the physics of video games making any practical sense. Anyway, I crawled out of the dark chain of dungeons and blinked into daylight inside Lea Monde.
Are all of the girls in this game useless? I want Ashley's partner to kick some arse.
What's up with his name being Ashley, anyway? Ashley Riot has a nice ring to it, but all I can think of is Ashley Wilkes, which is not the same at all.

A random question: So the information on my map says that the map is 13% complete. Does this mean that I am 13% of the way through the game?

I need to do a much better job of checking my Facebook event invitations. I tend to ignore Facebook for the most part, but I totally missed the invitation to Casbah to celebrate [livejournal.com profile] suibhne_geilt's birthday.

STEP ONE

Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun to medium to really big. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO

Surf around your friends list (or friends of friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Once a wish has been granted, it will be crossed off the list.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

MY WISHLIST

1. Mixed CDs. [Downloadable mixes are hokai as well.] I am a huge fan of these, and I listen to the ones people give me quite often. I'll make a list of stuff I like, but already have.
I've just discovered Placebo and am loving them (esp. Every You Every Me and Protege Moi). I also love listening to anime soundtracks (esp. Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, Samurai Champloo, Hellsing, NANA, Honey & Clover), and musicals like Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera and Prince of Egypt (AND THE BUFFY MUSICAL). I also like movie soundtracks like Star Wars and LotR . As for bands, my favorite is probably Third Eye Blind, but I also like Garbage, Alanis Morissette (early; angry), Electric Six, Tool, System of a Down, Gnarls Barkley, Fall Out Boy, Franz Ferdinand, etc.
I am also a fan of random Latin chanting! Catholic-related = better. I wouldn't even know where to look for stuff like that.

2. Recipes. My mom would kill me for asking the Internet for this, instead of her. (Not to mention she told me for about 10 years straight that I would regret not learning how to cook from her. At least she taught me how to clean!) Anyway, my skills are limited and I only like making things that are good for a maximum of four servings (otherwise it'll go bad before I eat it all). I have more experience cooking than baking (or anything else).
I have a pizza tray, a square glass baking pan (for like, chicken?), various sized pots, a George Foreman grill, various sized pans, and some weird thing...I think it's a roast pan?
Recipes that call for lots of random ingredients freak me out. BABY STEPS, PEOPLE.

3. Encouragement/Strong hand. I worked a lot on Ghost Hunters in the beginning of November. Then I didn't have time to work on it one day, and only had about 10 minutes the next, and then I just fell off of the wagon and haven't worked on it since. I got about 12,000 words, and would like to continue to make myself work on this. Maybe more frequent posting in [livejournal.com profile] scribes_solace or simply asking, "How is the writing going? What would make it easier?" or, occasionally, "GET YOUR ASS IN GEAR."

4. Fansubs of new anime, or discs of scanslated manga. Don't give me fansubs for stuff that's available in the U.S. - not only is that illegal in my eyes, but I can also get that stuff from the library or Netflix. I'm behind on the new stuff anyway. I think the newest series I've watched was Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. I'd also really like to finish Romeo x Juliet (I've seen through about episode 14). The only manga I keep up with from Japan is xxxHolic and Tsubasa Chronicle, and NANA (of course, I am behind in reading all three, but I at least have them!). I've read through volume 32 or something of Naruto.
I keep a list of what anime I've already seen here.
In theory, I also keep a booklog, but it hasn't been updated in months.

5. Fanfic recs. I don't spend a lot of time looking at fanfiction because it takes too damn long. So....yeah. Preferred fandoms are FF7, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, Veronica Mars, Buffy, Angel (WESLEY), Revolutionary Girl Utena, Princess Tutu, xxxHolic, Tsubasa Chronicle, and yeah. My LJ profile lists my fandoms a lot more extensively than this.
I read primarily for writing style, although lots of violence and angst is cool, especially if it involves Wesley Wyndam-Pryce.

6. Help hanging up my bulletin board on the wall of my apartment. I tried doing it and it fell about three times. I don't know how to hang things very well, and I'd really like to get that up.

7. Nice pens. Please don't anybody get me journals; I have enough of those for at least a year or three. I like pens that feel like they're bleeding when you write, that glide wetly when you draw the tip across paper.

8. I love soap. In bars. I'm not totally sure what all's out there, but I like more earthy things as compared to fruity ones. For example, stuff I have right now includes oatmeal, almond, almond cornmeal, and cinnamon clove.

9. Makeup advice. I can put on foundation/powder to conceal my acne pretty well, but I feel like I fail at the other stuff. How often are you really supposed to replace mascara? How come it only looks like I'm weareing eyeliner if I wear black, and no other colors show up? What kinds of eyeshadows look the best? Is blush an okay thing to wear (I like a dark, husky rose along the cheekbone, but not very much. None of that bright crap.)? What's the deal with lip liner? I bought some before my interview but am a little bit afraid of it.

10. I don't know what else I want?! Don't give me books!

Santa can get my mailing address through LJ messaging. Or more likely Antoine's address, because packages don't get delivered to my apartment.

This is another reminder that people planning on buying me gifts should PLEASE TELL ME so I can enter you in to my neat Excel spreadsheet.
