I now have at least a month of HBO NOW, so that I can watch the Pod Save America midterm election specials.

I am wondering whether people have recommendations for other HBO TV shows. nicasiosilang has already demanded that I watch Young Pope, in which the Pope is 1) American, and 2) played by Jude Law. SOOOOOO THAT'S HAPPENING. But I will entertain more suggestions to make the most of this month.

Mmmm, I was thinking of getting a month of HBO Now for just this reason, so I'll be eagerly following the answers.

SHOW ME A HERO is David Simon + Oscar Isaac. I'm sure your housemate would love it: it's all about municipal politics (v sad end).

My reasons to try it are:

THE DEUCE. David Simon (The WIRE &c) explores porn in 1970s Times Square, with Maggie Gyllenhall is the central character.

BARRY is a hitman who wants to be an actor.

Man, I keep forgetting to watch this, altho one of the Pod Save America guys mentioned a segment about the Instagram accounts of local TV reporters a while back, so A. and I watched it, and it was delightful. I think the same episode had a montage of people smiling/doing fun activities while horrible side effects of various pharmaceuticals are read aloud during commercials.
