Last HP Post Pre-Book 6 (Spoilers for books 1-5)

I know, I've really got to start writing in here! Quick update on me: Home for the summer in Green Bay, I've been working at ShopKo and volunteering 2 and a half days a week for my Congressman. I really haven't been online much at all, and I think it's been good for me. I've been reading a lot instead....I've reread the entire Harry Potter series inside of a week (provided I can speed through Book 5 before I purchase Book 6 at midnight tonight!). Anyway, I have some last minute thoughts on books one-through-five, and predictions for the future, and thought they could go here. Possible spoilers are clearly marked.

I'm writing this having reread the series and am currently about 225 pages into OotP, and I'm a little rusty on remembering all of the specifics of that one....So if I speculate on something that's already happened, just ignore it!

All right! Firstly, I want to say that I think I may or may not have worked out why it is that Dumbledore trusts Snape? In Prisoner of Azkaban (page 204-205, American version), it says this:
Fudge dropped his voice and proceeded in a sort of low rumble. "Not many people are aware that the Potters knew You-Know-Who was after them. Dumbledore, who was of course working tirelessly against You-Know-Who, had a number of useful spies. One of them tipped him off, and he alerted James and Lily at once. He advisied them to go into hiding...
It seems to make sense that that spy would have been Snape - we know he's got a tattoo on his arm, and certainly telling Dumbledore that Voldemort intended to kill the Potter boy would be enough to convince someone that Snape is trustworthy, however greasy and piggish he is.
HOWEVER, none of this would make sense, because as seen in the big climax of Book Three, Snape is obviously under the impression that it was not Pettigrew who exposed the Potters, but Black. Perhaps Snape knew that Voldemort was coming after them but didn't know who revealed it? Or maybe his hatred for Sirius ran so deeply that he didn't care that he was lying.

Something that has been bothering me, though....on the night Harry's parents died, Hagrid goes to pick up Harry, and he meets Sirius there on the motorcycle. If Sirius really had been the one to betray the Potters, don't you think he would've been able to handle Hagrid, someone who'd been expelled from learning magic in this Third Year? I don't know, I guess maybe most of the wizards wouldn't have known that, but if I was Dumbledore or somebody, I would've thought, "You know, if Black was as bad as we think he is, he probably would've attacked Hagrid to try and kill Harry, where his master had failed..." But whatever, I guess.

And a nitpicking about the Ministry of Magic monitoring underage wizards! Harry gets yelled at for Dobby levitating the cake in the Dursley's kitchen and fighting off Dementors, but when Hagrid does magic, he doesn't get in trouble. And at the Quidditch World Cup, when Harry & Co. are fleeing, it seems perfectly all right for them to use their wands to light their path...DOUBLE YOU TEE EFF.

As for future romances, I think that it's fairly obvious that Ron and Hermione like each other! And you need look no further than "The Yule Ball" chapter, especially pages 422-423 of GoF.

I would also still really like it if Harry got with Ginny, :O

And maybe Percy will do something evil in the future? Percy would never throw any of his family to the dementors," said Hermione severely. "I don't know," said Ron. "If he thought we were standing in the way of his career...Percy's really ambitious, you know..."

I still think one the Weasleys is going to die...I had been convinced it was going to be Arthur, which was why the beginning of Book 5 had me flipping out so much. But, yeah. One of the Weasleys is going to die, and my bets are going with either Ron or his mother. And Dumbledore.

And I am still befuddled by this gleam of triumph of Dumbledore's....And he was right - he (Voldemort) could touch me without hurting himself, he touched my face." For a fleeting instant, Harry thought he saw a gleam of something like triumph in Dumbledore's eyes." WTF!

That mirror that Sirius gave Harry - he'd better be able to use it. That'd be pretty cool if Sirius could get like, ghosts to join Dumbledore's side, bwaha.

I think that's it for now....I'd polish this a lot better, but Ryan and I are getting ready to go to Noodles and then Barnes and Noble. It'll probably be a while before I post again, as I work 8-1 tomorrow, and I imagine I'll be engrossed in reading. I really, really wish I didn't have to work, as I've had to get up before 7 every day since Sunday, excluding Tuesday. >O

I AM SO EXCITED! I look pretty gothic without my robe on, though - black tights/skirt/shirt. I am so cool. Maybe I'll make the news!

Signing off with glee....
