Layout, HP sketch, Spanish poetry, and ramblings
I really need to write in here more often. I do check my Friends List many times throughout the day, so I feel like I know all of you quite well, but I fear that nobody really knows me, as I rarely update. Alas.
I have selected a new layout for this journal. The other one was way too dark.
Have any of you guys seen the movie "Constantine"? It kicks ass. I really want to read the comics now, but....for now I'll have to settle for rereading the first Sandman comic, as John Constantine is in it. I liked Keanu Reeves in the movie. He fit the part quite well, I think. And he looked hot, ;D
Even though I suck at sketching, I find myself drawing a lot in various lectures. Here is Harry Potter and my crappy handwriting. The scrawl right above him says, "What's going to happen to the rest of my friends?" I'm really scared for future books...J.K. Rowling answered "Yes. Sorry." to the question of whether or not anyone else would die in future books. Anyway. I always thought his hair should be a lot messier - the books say that it's untidy! And yeah, that's supposed to be a lion above the G on his badge. Bite me.

We had to write essays in Spanish class based on Pablo Neruda's "Oda a la vida," incorporating lots of grammar from the chapters we're studying right now. Obviously, my Spanish vocabular is pretty small, and I was limited to the grammatical structures and vocabulary relevant to our chapters. It's not a great poem, but I've put it here anyway (hopefully the accents show up properly), along with the translation. If you spot any errors, let me know; I leave for class at 9:30 tomorrow morning, ;)
Spanish / English
Vida, a veces pienso que has sido enterrada / Life, sometimes I think that you have been buried
debajo de cosas. / beneath things.
Pensaba que yo sabía exactamente la que eras / I thought that I knew exactly what you were
hasta que me de cuenta que no sabía / until I realized that I didn't know
donde podría encontrarte. / where I could find you.
Empezaba a buscar, y la encontré una pista / I started to look, and I found a path
en un bosque tupido y oscuro. / in a thick, dark forest.
A la derecha, vi el dinero, las casas grandes, y la codicia. / To the right, I saw money, large houses, and greed.
A la izquierda, vi los televisores, las computadoras, los discos compactos, y la soledad. / To the left, I saw television sets, computers, CDs, and loneliness.
Otras personas dicen que la vida pueda ser encontrada / Other people said that life could be found
en ambas de estas pistas. / on both of these paths.
Antes de empezar a caminar afuera de los demás, / Before I started to walk away from the others,
creía que tuvieron razón. / I believed that they were right.
Empezaba a caminar al derecho. / I started to walk straight ahead.
Al principio, la pista estaba muy oscura. / At first, the path was very dark.
No podía ver donde yo estaba yendo, / I couldn't see where I was going,
y muchas arraigas me causaban a tropezar. / and many roots caused me to trip.
Continuaba a caminar / I continued to walk
hasta que me de cuenta de que / until I realized that
la pista era / the path was
tu, vida. / you, life.
Algunas veces, estás la oscuridad / Sometimes, you are the darkness
y a veces, estás la luz. / and sometimes, you are the light.
Algunas veces, camino solo, / Sometimes, I walk alone,
y a veces, camino con otros. / and sometimes, I walk with others.
Algunas veces, la pista me lleva a un lugar. / Sometimes, the path takes me to a place.
Generalmente, no lo hice. / Generally, it doesn't do that.
Y estoy satesfecha. / And I am satisfied.
What else? Have any of you played Knights of the Old Republic? I'm playing it right now. It's so awesome! Kick ass.
Lately, I've been thinking about my story (containing Timria, Charlotte, and Lanif) a lot. I really wish I could do something with it. I really want to have demons in my story. Because demons are cool. I think doing the story in comic form would also be pretty cool. Unfortunately, I have no artistic ability. No real writing talent, either. Damn. Anyway, the end. Spring Break starts on Friday! WOOT!
