OMG OOKU WON THE TIPTREE!!!!!

A MANGA WON THE TIPTREE!!!!!

Unfortunately, manga-ka are reclusive and Fumi Yoshinaga will not be coming to WisCon. I COULD NOT EVEN HANDLE IT IF THAT HAPPENED.

Anyway:

I know!! It's AMAZING! I am happy and I have not even read Ooku! (I can't handle the faux-Shakesperian thing the translation has going on. I keep meaning to look for the Japanese version! Now I have to do that.)

Hey, I have an idea! We should do one of those spontaneous panels about Ooku! It's interestingly situated among manga dealing with gendered dystopias -- Marginal by Hagio Moto is set in a world in which a plague has killed all the women but a single Mother.

Wahhhh!

I wonder if there is a scanlation without the heinous translation?? I wouldn't feel bad downloading it, since I'm also buying the hard copies so I wouldn't feel too bad about it.

OMF I would be at the spontaneous panel about Ooku and possibly we could throw in Antique Bakery and Flower of Life, too!

I don't know much about other gendered dystopian manga.....I don't think (I'm sure there's some that I've read at some point!).

Bwahahahaha! It is so exciting!

It must be so hard to be on the Tiptree Committee and not be like OMG YOUR BOOK IS TOTALLY GOING TO WIN!
