Little Brother by Cory Doctorow
So, I've actually only gotten 150 pages into this book, which is a little less than half. I don't know whether or not I can finish it, though.
Why didn't Cory Doctorow just write a blog post about how he felt about the Patriot Act? Because having it broken down and explained to me by an entitled high school boy is pretty annoying, and would probably not change my mind if I cracked the book open from a view point of disagreement.
And this was nominated for a Hugo! I didn't really think it was particularly well-written. Am I missing something? Convince me, Internet!

the token poc friends are transparently token. The obnoxious part is, some of them even tell him he's being entitled... and he doesn't care! He even admits it, but turns it into being all about him when he realizes that the stunts he pulls have negative consequences for others! But His Cause Is Just So Noble! It's okay! It is definitely unsubtle. I've been describing it as a "dudely book".
Also, he says something like "livejournalers love quizzes!" and make it sound like myspace sheep. Um. obviously he's hanging out in the wrong part of livejournal.
On the plus side, I think we'll have an interesting discussion?
