I was outraged! And then, I blinked....
.....Is that why they've been so coy about everything? Not revealing whether or not it's been renewed, not releasing any spoilers? Because this was meant to be the end, and they just didn't want to ruin it for anybody? Because they wanted us to be just as bewildered and distrustfully hopeful as John?
Because I'm interpreting this correctly, right? Sarah set the future so that John is there, with his dad, with Derek, with Cameron - who is not a Terminator - and he is no longer special - no longer famous?
A crackle, and an, "I love you, too."
Because if that's what happened? Holy shit. I don't even know what think right now.
If that is what happened and that is how things were supposed to end - forever - then I have a lot of respect for everyone keeping quiet about it. WTF. WTF.
If somebody watched tonight's episode, will you pretty please call me and see if I interpreted this correctly?

I don't even know what to think.
BUT, I can't think that Sarah could possibly have set that up on purpose. In fact, I think this future is entirely created by John. He never grew up, so he never led the resistance, which means that Reece brothers did. She may have gone and helped them get ready, in John's absence (that's what I'd have done, anyway). Now that I think about it, all this means John was never born.
It may well be an ending, and the best they could do on short notice, but you're reading a lot more closure into it than I am.
wtfwtfwtf!

So maybe this is exactly where the two story lines link up.

Though I did not remember that thing from the movie someone pointed out above, I was okay with the way John ended up in the future because they'd been so clear on the fact that, as they moved through the series, they were actively changing the future in subtle ways. I loved that it was a dance -- they change the future, the future comes back in time, it gets changed some more, and so on.
