I think that sentence was great prose in and of itself. Which, to me, is worth saying. It may even be the most worthwhile thing to say because it is so poignant to the human condition. No, I'm not making excuses for you and, no, I'm not being cliche.
I think you should reevaluate the things you allow yourself to express and the things you deem "quality writing," because I like your thoughts very much. I feel like stream of consciousness (while it can be batshit crazy) is a good thing from Jackie. This is one reason it's so rewarding to be a member of most of your lists. You have good thoughts about thoughts and I like to hear them all, even if they don't have an obvious message.
