Other people are more articulate than I am

Dr. Horrible analysis! I love when the Internet gets analytical about the narratives I love. I could read this shit all day.

So, first, [livejournal.com profile] takumashii. Her entire post (and you should read it) is here.

Feminists do analyze masculinity! KTHX.

And then there was [livejournal.com profile] highandrandom's post, which I also adore. You can find it in its entirety here.

That is what I think about it.

They could have at least given her more agency.

Ooh, thanks for the link -- that's kind of how I felt, too. :/

Cool, thanks for the links. I watched this all in one sitting today, so the end wasn't quite as awful for me; I didn't spend time in between thinking things over and building up expectations. The story seems to me to be, the making of a super villain. Probably every super villain in that room has a similar story, a turning point where the good part in them was crushed. I didn't much like Penny or her portrayal, but dang, Neil Patrcik Harris was cute in this!

P.S. I love these analyses too, almost more than I love the source material. I'm posting a link roundup.

I agree. It's an origin story, and it has some similarities to that of Wolverine (I know - he's a hero - but he does inadvertently kill the love of his life).
