A Shameless Plea for Help from Madison Friends
So, the semester is almost finished, and I'll be leaving Madison for a couple of weeks soon. So will my roommates. Because, you know, Christmas, etc.
But what is sad about this is that while we are gone, we have a driveway that needs to be shoveled, along with our sidewalks (we live on a corner). Because we have sidewalks, they need to be kept clear of snow, lest we receive a $100/day fine from the city. (If it stops snowing before midnight, sidewalks should be cleared before noon the next day. If snow continues to fall after midnight, then a household has until noon on the following day.)
My roommates and I are going to be 2 hours (or more) away from the house, and need someone to clear the snow for us. We have two shovels, a snow-blower, an ice pick, and a bag of sidewalk salt. You can park in our driveway (or garage) for the duration of this time. And we will pay you.
I'm only going to say yes if I (or one of the roommates) have met you before. (People I know from conventions: You are considered people I have "met" before.)
Leave a comment or email me for details.
This would be from Saturday, December 22 until Saturday, January 5.
(PS: What is an appropriate amount of money to pay someone for clearing snow?)

BTW, the sidewalks have looked great recently. Dare I detect a hired snowblower?

Thank you! Well, we've always had a snow blower, but after The Incident, Chad and I pretty much got pissed and spent a couple of hours out there with the ice-pick, literally chopping and scraping any ice or snow we could find on the sidewalk. Also, the sun seems to mostly hit our sidewalk in a good way, so that also helps.

You have my contact info (http://www.livejournal.com/users/bibliofile/71724.html), yes? I'm usually home from work around 3-ish, though I have some errands to do after work one day this week.
