Pirates!

I felt like using my Juri icon. *strokes it*

Can I please gush about how much I absolutely loved "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest?!"

The first half hour dragged. But all of a sudden, I got swept up in it again, and it was most brilliant. This is what a true pirate movie should be. Knives clenched in teeth, a barroom brawl,

I LOVED the witch. She was a witch, right? Whatever. I absolutely adored her. Favorite character.

I really liked the line when Sparrow brought the cage out and said, "Look, we brought you a present. Undead monkey." UNDEAD MONKEY! The thought is so amusing. When I was walking in the parking lot with my friends afterward, I declared aloud, "I want an undead monkey!" They laughed and said, "You WOULD."

I hated Norrington in the first movie. He is surprisingly hot when without his wig, and when dirty.

I was really surprised by the angst at the end, with Elizabeth betraying Jack, and Will seeing them make out. I love these movies - they're fun, amusing, and intriguing, but the first one didn't really have much depth of character. So, that really was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting to be annoyed by Will in this movie, and I wasn't at all.

Oh! And Davie Jones? BRILLIANT. I started cackling when they showed him at his ridiculous organ, particularly when we learned he played it with his tentacles. I loved all of his ship's crew, really. I loved how dark this movie was. Violent for children, yes. I loved how CREEPY it was. When the bearded pirate from Jack's ship was telling the stories - so good. And how disgusting the crew was, especially Will's father. DELIGHTFULLY disgusting!

3-way sword fight?! BRILLIANT! I also really loved that Elizabeth got to kick ass in this movie - both in a literal way, knocking people's heads and fighting with swords, and also in the doing-something-dirty-to-save-Will way.

That's what I love the most about these movies, is the dialogue. It is SO GOOD. Perfectly accurate from the time, and differently suited to each character. It's great. The dialogue is what makes it for me, really. I love it more than I loved everything else.

I suppose that's about enough fangirling. I'm off to go read some manga, and then hopefully post in my blog. And perhaps watch some of the anime I've rented from the library this week - I have the first DVDs of Descendents of Darkness and Fushigi Yuugi, and also the Perfect Blue movie that looks like it'd be great. Probably not up for another movie, though. It's already midnight, :/
