Samurai Champloo
I should probably write about this before we go and see Hitchhiker's tonight and I forget important tidbits.....It's not well-written, but I am excited. So....too bad. Probably the only person who'll read this is Louise anyway. Because none of you have seen Samurai Champloo! :O
I watched the last three episodes of Samurai Champloo tonight. I must say that everyone should watch this anime because it is totally awesome! Comparable to Cowboy Bebop not in content/characters/plot, but in pure awesome-ness. WATCH IT. MAY 14TH. CARTOON NETWORK. 11:30 EASTERN TIME. DO IT.
The rest of my ramblings will
So. That conversation by the fire was the cutest thing ever! Jin calling Fuu by her name, and holding her.....and then Mugen lying awake by the fire, listening. What did Fuu mean, though?! What about Mugen? Does she love him? Grr...bein' all ambiguous on purpose....
Okay, and when Fuu was at the edge of that cliff and about to be killed and all of a sudden she looks AND IT IS JIN AS PURE SEX, COMING TO RESCUE HER! Seriously, when he became visible, I was squee-ing and yelling OHMIGOD! Flowing hair in the wind, shirt half off, no glasses. If that's not fanservice, I don't know what is. Jin = teh sex0rz. And, oh sweet jeebus, is he awesome. Honestly, I feel sorry for the girls who live next to me. "OH HELL, YES! AHAHAHAHA!"
And seriously, the fight scenes? I can't even describe them, but they were awesome. These last three episodes were absolutely perfectly. Everyone almost died, Mugen and Jin had kickass fight scenes, everyone's back story got development, and everyone got closure.
I thought the end was really cute, how Mugen and Jin went at it and their blades collapsed and Jin was like, "Honestly..." Perfect. And when he said, "I finally found what I was looking for....comrades." Gah, this entire ending was perfect. I thought I would be sad if they all parted ways, but it felt entirely perfect, and you just know, with their luck, that they're all going to be together again. It also kind of leaves it wide open....maybe there'll be a movie?? That would kick ass.
I liked how when they were leaving, all three of them were a little different - Jin's clothes were a different shade, Mugen had a different sword, and I'm sure something was different about Fuu that I didn't notice. I *especially* loved how she told them that the flipped coin from episode 1 was a lie, and Jin/Mugen were like, WTF.
I honestly don't know what could have been done to make this anime more perfect. It's definitely won a place as an absolute favorite of mine.
