the script reads exeunt
and one by one
they are ripped away.
and as each one fades, i am
knocked to the ground
and my constricted throat and i
are left alone together
with my wet eyelashes,
rocking back and forth for comfort.
i would die for any one of them
but i am not given that choice.
the darkness is bearing down
due to no one's fault
but the mere existence
of the threads of fate,
spanning into the fog
that no gaze can penetrate.
you can't fight fate.

my chin is quivering
and my cheeks are damp
and inside, i'm screaming fiercely
but all I can do is bring myself
to take the next blow standing.
