poem

I got my wisdom teeth pulled today (yay) and I wrote this poem when I got home from watching a movie with some church friends, at our old youth minister's house. I got the idea in the car, staring out the window. Anyway....I'm still kinda under the influence of whatever the hell they gave me (although it only affected my body, not my mind, so if the poetry's crappy then I guess you'll just have to blame me).

The hours of solitude have come.
My smiles fade away
as I observe starlight and streetlight
shining on the snow.

My voice falls silent
as I give up trying
to use conversation
to cover the unquenchable fear that's shaking inside.

I realize that yes, the tears are still falling inside.
And the heart is still bleeding,
the blood still rising and tainting my mouth;
Testing my strength.

Darkness, you will not defeat me.
To this, I swear a solemn vow,
I will overcome the pain I feel,
And Satan, I command you take your final bow.
