A Poem for Matt

Hush, now.
You're safe here in my hand.
Just you, and me,
and the wind.

I'm bearing you up
away from pain
and loneliness and weariness
and into the light.

There is no longer
reason to weep
or fear
because all of the holes in your soul
have been filled.

And when all of your tears have dried,
and all of your scars have been erased,
and all the pain in your eyes is gone,
then I will bear you up even higher
and there you will soar.
