I'm not exactly sure how all of that stuff works...I'm assuming that because they're doing a "grassroots" type of release, and it doesn't benefit huge companies, that makes it okay?

I'm not really sure; I know that Joss was a huge supporter of the strike, though, so I personally would have faith that he's not crossing the picket line, but I don't know what all of the rules are myself.
