Shippuden is pretty awesome, but I totally get your annoyance with the pace. I think that's why I haven't been reading the latest chapters. Soooo slow! Naruto seemed to work for me better when I could inhale about ten volumes at a time, but YMMV!

Also, they're making A Great and Terrible Beauty into a movie?!?! Wow!
